Michelle Plouffe scored a game-high 13 points, while Cassandra Brown and Laura Dally each netted 12, and Canada (3-0) steamed past Costa Rica (0-3), 74-18, on June 25 in the final day of preliminary round play in the FIBA Americas U18 Championship for Women at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
With the win, Canada won Group A and advanced to play Brazil, the second-place team out of Group B, in a medal semifinal game on June 26, which will be played at 3:30 p.m.
Canada's medal semifinal opponent will be the winner of Friday's preliminary round game between Argentina and Brazil.
"The kids are excited," Canada coach Rich Chambers said. "We'll play well tomorrow. Whether it's Brazil or Argentina, it'll be a tough game.
"We have to do what kind of got us here. We have to play great defense, contest all shots, give up no transition points and do a great job on the glass."
Michelle Mayorga scored seven points for Costa Rica, the fourth-place team in Group A. Costa Rica will play the third-place team out of Group B in the consolation semifinals on June 26 at 11 a.m., competing now for fifth-through-eighth places.
