2012 USA Basketball Women's National Teams -- Eligibility Information

USA Basketball 2012 summer events have been finalized and are summarized below. 

Competition committees are responsible for selecting athletes to participate in team trials, the actual selection of each 12-member team and ongoing performance evaluations of team members.  While participation on a USA Basketball team is by invitation only, any athlete had the opportunity to download the 2012 Athlete Consideration Form and complete the information to insure consideration by the appropriate committee.  

The Athlete Consideration Form was due back to USA Basketball by March 9, 2012 and is no longer available for this summer.

2012 FIBA Americas U18 Championship

The 2012 FIBA Americas U18 Championship will be held August 15-19 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.   This event serves as the qualifying tournament for next year’s U19 FIBA World Championship.  Trials to select the 12-member team will be held May 18-21 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.  Athletes will receive an invitation to attend the Trials progressively and no later than following the Junior National Team Committee meeting at the NCAA Final Four in early April.  Training camp will include a variety of practices, scrimmages and friendly games in two different time periods.  Once again, Disney is hosting our U17 and U18 National Teams along with corresponding national teams from Brazil.  The schedule of trials, training camps and competitions follows:

• Players eligible for this team must be U.S. citizens and born on or after January 1, 1994.

2012 FIBA U17 World Championship

The 2012 FIBA U17 World Championship will be held August 17-26 in Rotterdam, Netherlands.   Trials to select the 12-member team will be held May 17-20 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Athletes will receive an invitation to attend the Trials by early April 2012.  Training camp will include a variety of practices, scrimmages and friendly games in two different time periods.  Once again, Disney is hosting our U17 and U18 National Teams along with corresponding national teams from Brazil.  The schedule of trials, training camps and competitions follows:

• Players eligible for this team must be U.S. citizens and born on or after January 1, 1995.

Team selection for each event is the responsibility of the appropriate women’s program competition committee. Players interested, available and eligible for any of the competitions stated herein were encouraged to complete the Athlete Consideration Form (no longer available) and return it by March 9, 2012 to USA Basketball.
