2009 USA Basketball Men's National Teams Eligibility Information

USA Basketball competition committees are responsible for selecting athletes to be invited to team training camps, the actual selection of each 12-member team and ongoing performance evaluations of team members. While participation on a USA Basketball team is by invitation only, all interested players are encouraged to complete this form to insure consideration. Each 2009 event is summarized below to better understand the opportunities for athletes this summer.

2009 FIBA U19 World Championship

The 2009 FIBA U19 World Championship will be held July 2-12 in Auckland, New Zealand. The team's domestic training camp will tentatively be held June 16-28 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Athletes will receive invitations to attend the training camp following the various USA Basketball Men's Junior National Team Committee Meetings held this Spring. Training camp will include a variety of practices, scrimmages and friendly games. The 2009 USA Basketball U19 World Championship Team schedule is as follows:

• Players eligible for this team must be U.S. citizens and born on or after January 1, 1990.

2009 FIBA Americas U16 Championship

The 2009 FIBA Americas U16 Championship will be held June 17-21 in Mendoza, Argentina. This inaugural event serves as the qualifying tournament for next year's FIBA U17 World Championship. The team's domestic portion of training camp will tentatively be held June 4-13 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Athletes will receive invitations to attend the training camp in the spring following the USA Basketball Men's Developmental Committee meetings throughout the beginning months of 2009. The 2009 USA Basketball U16 National Team schedule is as follows:

• Players eligible for this team must be U.S. citizens and born on or after January 1, 1993.

2009 World University Games

The 2009 World University Games will be held July 1-12 in Belgrade, Serbia. Participating collegiate-aged teams are from around the world. The team's domestic training camp will tentatively be held June 15-28 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Athletes will receive invitations to attend the training camp following the USA Basketball Men's Junior National Team Committees held this Spring. Players eligible for this team must be U.S. citizens, born between January 1, 1985 and December 31, 1991, who are currently enrolled as a full-time collegiate student with remaining eligibility for the 2009-10 school year. Training camp will include a variety of practices, scrimmages and friendly games. The 2009 USA Basketball World University Games Team schedule is as follows:

• Players eligible for this team must be U.S. citizens who are currently freshmen, sophomores or juniors in college.

Team selection for each event is the responsibility of the appropriate men's program competition committee. Players interested, available and eligible for any of the competitions stated above are encouraged to complete the 2009 USA Basketball Player Consideration Form and return it by March 27, 2009 to USA Basketball.
