The 2014 U17 Worlds will have an expanded field - from 12 to 16 teams - and FIBA has yet to announce which zones will receive an extra berth.

FIBA AMERICAS U16 EVENT HISTORY: Traveling to Mendoza, Argentina, for the inaugural FIBA Americas U16 Championship in 2009, the U.S. squad, a team comprised of players who were 16-years-old or younger, was flat out impressive. Scoring an average of 113.0 points a game, the USA team won its five games by an average of 33.8 points a game to claim the competition's first gold medal. The 2011 U.S. squad was not much different, decimating opponents by an average margin of 42.2 points per contest en route to a perfect 5-0 mark and the gold medal.

USA PLAYERS OF NOTE: Brad Beal (2009); Quinn Cook (2009); Aaron Gordon (2011); Jabari Parker (2011).
