Draw Held For 2011 Pan American Games Men's & Women's Basketball Competitions

The draw for the 2011 Pan American Games men's and women's basketball competitions today were conducted at the headquarters of this year's Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. The draws were conducted by FIBA Americas Technical Director, Anibal García.

The USA Basketball Men's Pan American Games Team was drawn into Group B, along with Brazil, Dominican Republic and Uruguay. Competing in Group A will be Argentina, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico.

The men's basketball competition begins with preliminary play Oct. 26, 27 and 28. The semifinals will be played on Oct. 29, and the finals will be contested on Oct. 30.

The 2011 USA Basketball Women's Pan American Games Team will play in Group A, as will Argentina, Mexico and Puerto Rico; while Brazil, Canada, Colombia and Jamaica comprise Group B.

Preliminary round play for the women's basketball competition runs Oct. 21, 22 and 23, with the semifinals on Oct. 24, and the finals on Oct. 25.
