USA Men's National Team Recap: Day 4 in Vegas

After Friday's training session, several members of the 2010 Men's National Team made the younger, college players on the 2010 Men's Select Team sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to forward Gerald Wallace, who celebrated his 28th birthday.

But the Charlotte Bobcats star put on a nice birthday performance of his own.

In the final three scrimmages against the USA Select Team members, Wallace pulled down six rebounds, tied with Tyson Chandler for the afternoon’s high mark, one day before the USA National Team breaks training camp in Las Vegas with the 2010 USA Basketball Showcase.

Wallace will suit up for the USA White on Saturday against the USA Blue in the Showcase's intra-squad scrimmage that begins at 7 p.m. (PDT) at UNLV's Thomas & Mack Center.

Tyson Chandler:
On today’s practice:
“I think today was a big step forward. Every day we have gotten better. The first couple days guys were really jittery. We were moving 100 miles an hour.
Now we are slowing down and playing to our strengths.”

On his vocal leadership
“I got experience from 2007 when I was on the opposite end. I was one of the newcomers. There were a lot of guys here, lots of vets and I had a different role. I feel my role is a little different now. I’m one of the guys with national experience and I feel it’s my job to be more vocal.”

Derrick Rose:
On training camp after four days:
“I think it’s going good. I’ve been playing well. The team is playing well. We’ve been competing. It’s all about having fun and that’s what we are doing. Everybody is playing hard.”

On the team camaraderie
“Everybody is bonding together and having fun. We are coming together as players and as a team. It’s like we are becoming brothers.”
