Past USA Basketball Senior National Teams featuring NBA elite talents have compiled many impressive statistics and records. Since first fielding in 1992 a team of legendary NBA stars, a team which was quickly tagged as the 'Dream Team,' USA Basketball Senior National Teams have competed in 13 international basketball competitions and compiled an impressive 109-7 record (94.0 winning percentage), while posting a record of 37-1 in exhibition games.

Of all the wins and all the records established by these teams, no statistic has been more followed than the margin of victory.

The 1992 team won its eight Olympic games by an average of 43.8 points. The same squad in its six Olympic qualifying games won by 51.5 points a game. In the 1994 World Championships, the USA won its eight games by 37.7 points a game. At the 1996 Olympic Games, the U.S. team posted an average margin of victory of 32.3 points in its eight wins. In 1999 at the Olympic Qualifying Tournament, the United States went 10-0 while compiling an average margin of victory of 31.6 ppg. During the 2000 Olympics, the American team won its eight games by an average of 21.6 points per game, and the 2001 USA Goodwill Games Team won its five outings by 36.2 points a game. At the 2002 World Championships, despite finishing 6-3, the U.S. squad still outscored its opponents by 16.9 ppg., and at the 2003 FIBA Americas Olympic Qualifying Tournament, the USA won its 10 games by 30.9 ppg. During the 2004 Olympics the U.S. finished 5-3 and its average margin of victory was 4.6 points a game. The USA squad went 8-1 at the 2006 FIBA World Championship and posted a 20.5 ppg. margin of victory. The USA finished 10-0 at the FIBA Americas Championship 2007 and won by an average margin of 39.5 ppg., and in winning gold at the 2008 Olympics the U.S. finished 8-0 and won by an average of 27.9 ppg. Most recently, the USA finished a perfect 9-0 at the 2010 FIBA World Championship and won by an average of 24.6 ppg.

The largest margin of victory in a single game for a USA Senior National Team is 79 points and was accomplished in the very first game featuring NBA stars in USA Basketball's red, white and blue uniforms. The USA Basketball 'Dream Team' in its first game of the 1992 Tournament of the Americas in Portland, Oregon, romped past Cuba 136-57.
