OLYMPIC MEN'S BASKETBALL GAME SCHEDULE: TBD

SITES OF COMPETITION: Basketball Arena (preliminary round) and North Greenwich Arena (finals)

QUALIFIED NATIONS (12): Great Britain, the host country, the United States, which earned its berth by virtue of claiming the gold medal at the 2010 FIBA World Championship, Africa Zone champ Tunisia, Americas zone champion Argentina and runner-up Brazil, Asia zone winner China, European zone gold medalist Spain and silver medalist France, and Oceania Zone champion Australia, have qualified for the 2012 London Olympic Games 12-nation field. The final three nations to qualify for the 2012 Olympics will be determined through the 2012 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament (see below for tournament details).

PRELIMINARY ROUND GROUPS: The draw to determine the two preliminary round groups of six teams each is scheduled to be held April 28, 2012, at the FIBA Central Board meeting n the Ivory Coast.

NOTE: The 2012 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament will be held July 2-8, 2012, in Caracas, Venezuela. The top three finishing teams qualify for the 2012 Olympics. The Olympic qualifier will feature 12 nations from each of the five 2011 FIBA zone qualifying tournaments as follows: Angola and Nigeria (silver and bronze medalists) from FIBA Africa; the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Venezuela from FIBA Americas (bronze medalist, fourth and fifth-place finishers); Jordan and South Korea from FIBA Asia (silver and bronze medalists); Russia, F.Y.R. of Macedonia, Lithuania and Greece fom FIBA Europe (bronze medalists, and the fourth through sixth-place finishers); and New Zealand from FIBA Oceania (runner-up).

The draw for the 2012 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Men was held Jan. 31. 2012, The compostion of the four pools are - Group A: Greece, Jordan, Puerto Rico. Group B: Lithuania, Nigeria, Venezuela; Group C: Dominican Republic, South Korea, Russia; Group D: Angola, F.Y.R. of Macedonia, New Zealand.
