USA BASKETBALL

• Member of the 2007 USA Men’s Senior National Team and USA FIBA Americas Championship Team that finished 10-0, won gold and qualified the United States men for the 2008 Olympics. The USA Team was a team comprised of members of USA Basketball Senior National Team program.

 

• Player in nine of the USA’s 10 FIBA Americas Championship games. Averaged 7.3 ppg. (eighth high on team), a team second best 5.1 rpg., 2.1 apg., 17.8 minutes a game, while shooting 48.1 percent (26-54 FGs) from the field, 35.7 perent (10-28 3pt FGs) from 3-point.

• Recorded 13 points and four rebounds in team's gold medal game win over Argentina; posted 13 points and six rebounds versus Uruguay; 10 points against Puerto Rico and Canada. Grabbed a team high 13 rebounds against U.S. Virgin Islands.


• Played for the USA White Team in the 2007 State Farm USA Basketball Challenge and recorded six points, and added six rebounds and one assist in just over 26 minutes of action.

• Added on May 23, 2007, to the USA Basketball Men's Senior National Team.

• Selected a member of the 2000 USA World Championship for Young Men Qualifier Team that finished 4-1 and won the silver medal in Ribeirao Preto, Brazil.

• Played in all five games and averaged 4.6 ppg. and 2.4 rpg.

• Started and played in all 16 Detroit Playoff games in 2006-07, averaged 14.1 ppg., 6.4 rpg.3.8 apg., while shooting 41.5 percent from the field, 40.9 percent from 3-point and 75.9 percent from the free throw stripe.

• Scored a career high 33 points at Philadelphia (1/09/07).

• Appeared in 82 games (all starts) in 2004-05, averaged career highs for points (14.7 ppg.), field goal percentage (.487), 3-point field goal percentage (.341), free throw percentage (.807), while adding 5.3 rpg., 3.0 apg., 0.87 bpg. and 37.1 mpg.

• Started all 25 playoff games in 2004-05, averaged 13.4 ppg., 6.3 rpg., 3.3 apg. and 1.04 spg. in 40.9 minutes per game.

• Finished 2004-05 ranked 28th overall in the NBA in minutes (37.1 mpg.) and 28th in field goal percentage (.487).

• In 2003-04, appeared in 82 games (80 starts), averag

ed 10.3 ppg., 4.8 rpg., 2.3 apg., 0.77 spg., 0.84 bpg., 32.9 mpg., while shooting 46.7 field goal percentage, 36.3 3-point field goal percentage, 76.6 free throw percentage.

• Finished 2003-04 ranked 36th overall in the NBA in field goal percentage (.467). Ranked third among second-year forwards in scoring and first field goal percentage

• Averaged 9.9 ppg., 6.0 rpg., 2.3 apg., 1.09 spg., 1.35 bpg. and 34.6 mpg. in 23 playoff games (all starts) in 2003-04.

• In 2002-03, appeared in 42 games (five starts), averaged 3.3 ppg., 1.1 rpg., 0.6 apg. and 10.4 mpg.

COLLEGE NOTES

• Named All-America second team by The Associated Press as a junior and third team as a senior.

• Named by Associated Press and by SEC coaches the 2001 SEC Player of the Year, and All-SEC first team by both the media and SEC coaches.

• Earned 2001 SEC Tournament MVP honors after recording double-doubles in the semifinal and title games. Against Arkansas, had 19 points and 10 rebounds while hitting 10-for-12 from the free throw line. In the title game versus Ole Miss, had 26 points and a career-high 12 rebounds while tying the record for threes made in a league tourney championship game with six. Averaged 19.0 ppg and 9.3 rpg in the three tournament games.

• During Kentucky’s run in the 2001 NCAA Tournament, scored 27 points against Holy Cross and a career high 31 points versus Iowa, and also recorded a career high seven assists and matched his career-high with six 3-point shots made. During the tournament, averaged 21.3 ppg., 5.7 rpg., and 5.0 apg. and shot 53.8 percent from the field, 56.3 percent from 3-point and 92.9% from the foul line.

• In 2000-01 SEC league play, finished ranked second in the league in scoring by one point, averaging 17.8 ppg., first in free throw percentage (.900), fourth in field goal percentage (.520) and ninth in 3-point percentage (.380).

• Was originally an early entry candidate for the 2001 NBA Draft, but withdrew his name and return to Kentucky.

• Three-time Kentucky team MVP.

• Finished seventh in Kentucky history in scoring (1,775 points), second in 3-point field goals made (204) and attempted (621) and fifth in block shots (142).

• In 135 career-college games, averaged 13.1 ppg. on 45.7% shooting, adding 5.6 rpg. and
1.9 apg.

• Named 1999-00 All-SEC second team by the SEC coaches.

• Finished first on the team and 12th in the SEC in scoring (13.3 ppg) and second at UK in rebounding (6.0 rpg) to earn the team’s Most Outstanding Player Award.

• Named to the 1999-00 Preseason NIT’s All-Tournament Team after tallying 21 points and nine rebounds against Maryland and 18 points and five boards against Arizona.

• Full name Given name is Tayshaun Durell Prince, nicknamed “Tay."

• Son of Thomas and Diane Prince, and has two siblings, Tisha and older brother Tommie, who played at Pepperdine.

• Graduated on schedule in May 2002 with a degree in sociology.

• Named a 1998 McDonald’s All-American.

• Led Dominguez High School to a 96-9 (.914 winning percentage) record during his three seasons, including a state championship during his junior year (1997).

• Won the George Yardley Award from the Los Angeles Times as the best high school player in Southern California, joining former winners Baron Davis, Paul Pierce, and Charles O’Bannon.

• Graduated with a 3.3 GPA and was on the school’s honor roll for three year
