USA BASKETBALL NOTES

• Member of the 2007 USA Men’s Senior National Team and USA FIBA Americas Championship Team that finished 10-0, won gold and qualified the United States men for the 2008 Olympics. The USA Team was a team comprised of members of USA Basketball Senior National Team program.

 


• Player in all 10 of the USA’s FIBA Americas Championship games. Averaged 7.9 ppg. (seventh high on team), 2.1 rpg., 0.9 apg., 15.6 minutes a game, while shooting 43.9 percent (29-66 FGs) from the field, 38.0 perent (19-50 3pt FGs) from 3-point.

• Recorded 14 points (4-6 3pt FGs) in team's semifinal victory over Puerto Rico; posted 13 points against U.S. Virgin Islands, 10 points in wins over Venezuela and Canada.


• Played for the USA White Team in the 2007 State Farm USA Basketball Challenge and recorded 22 points (8-19 FGs, 5-15 3pt FGs), and added five rebounds and one assist in just under 25 minutes of action.

• Added on May 23, 2007, to the USA Basketball Men's Senior National Team.

• Member of the 2001 USA Goodwill Games Team that was comprised of young NBA players and finished 5-0 to capture the gold medal at the 2001 Goodwill Games in Brisbane, Australia.

• Played and started in all five games and averaged 9.8 ppg., 2.4 rpg., and 1.0 apg., while shooting 51.4 percent from the floor and a perfect 6-of-6 from the foul line.

• Named a member of the 1998 USA Junior World Championship Qualifying Team that finished 6-0 and earned the gold medal, averaged a team fifth best 8.8 ppg., a fourth best 4.7 rpg. and a second best 3.2 apg.


NBA HONORS

• Name as the recipient of the NBA's Community Assist Award for May 2007.

• Named the NBA’s 2006 Sixth Man of the Year, earning 88 of a possible 123 votes, and 501 of a possible 615 points in the balloting.

• Named the 2001 NBA Rookie of the Year.

• Named 2001 All-Rookie first team and was the only unanimous selection, receiving the maximum 56 points.

• Tallied seven points, team-high 11 assists and seven rebounds for the Sophomore squad in the Rookie Challenge at 2002 NBA All-Star Weekend

• Participated in the 2002 ATT Long Distance Shootout.

• Participated in the Schick Rookie Game at All-Star Weekend 2001 in Washington, D.C., played for the Rookie team that lost 121-113 to the Sophomore squad, accounted for 11 points (4-9 FGs, 3-6 3pt FGs).

• Named NBA Rookie of the Month for February 2001 after averaging 15.6 ppg., 3.6 rpg. and 2.3 apg. in 36.8 mpg., 12 games.

• Named Co-Rookie of the Month for March 2001 after averaging 16.6 ppg., 4.6 rpg. and 1.9 apg. in 35.8 mpg., 16 games.

NBA MILESTONES

• Registered his 5,000th career point and 1,000th career assist during the 2005-06 season.

• Set an Orlando franchise records for most 3-point field goals made
and most 3-point field goals attempted in a season by a rookie.

• Completed in 2006-07 his seventh NBA

season, fourth full season with Memphis.  

• Memphis finished the 2006-07 season with a 22-60 regular season record.

• Started in 69 of the 70 games he played in 2006-07and finished the NBA regular season averaging a career high 18.5 ppg., 5.4 rpg., a career best 4.3 apg., while shooting 46.0 percent from the field, 40.6 perecent from 3-point and 79.3 percent from the foul line.

• Finished 2006-07 ranked third overall in the NBA in 3-point field goals made (202) and attempted (498); 11th in minutes per game (39.1); 19th in 3-point percentage (.406); 29th in points per game (18.5); 32nd in minutes played (2740) and in defensive rebounds per game (4.7); 33rd in assists per game(4.3); 42nd in field goals attempted (1010); 43rd in assists (298); 43rd in points (1293); 43rd in efficiency ranking (18.21); and 44th in field goals made (465).

• Earned in 2005-06 the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year Award, came off the bench in 65 of 74 games played, and averaged 13.7 ppg., 5.4 rpg., 2.7 apg., and shot 40.7 percent from 3-point range (19th in the NBA)

• Scored a career-high 41 points versus Denver (3/17/06), tying at the time a franchise record. His 41 points also set a franchise record for scoring off the bench in a game.

• Registered his first career triple-double with 21 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists versus Sacramento(1/10/06).

• Played in 76 games in 2004-05 and averaged 13.4 ppg., 3.9 rpg., 2.9 apg., and shot career bests of 50.5 percent from the floor and 43.3 percent from 3-point.

• Finished 2004-05 ranked fourth in the NBA in 3-point percentage.

• Grizzlies went 29-22 in his 51 starts.

• Played and started 65 games in 2003-2004 and averaged 11.1 ppg., 3.3 rpg., 3.6 apg., while shooting 43.8 percent from the field, 37,2 percent from 3-point.

• Grizzlies went 39-26 in his 65 starts.

• Traded on Feb. 19, 2003, with Ryan Humphrey to Memphis for Drew Gooden and Gordon Giricek.

• In 2002-03, played in 49 games with Orlando and averaged 16.4 ppg. and 5.4 rpg.; played in 16 games with Memphis and averaged 12.8 ppg. and 3.4 rpg.; finished the season with 15.6 ppg. and 5.2 rpg.

• In 2000-01 NBA statistics, ranked eighth in 3-point field goals made per 48 minutes (2.97), ninth in 3-point field goals made (148), 12th in 3-point field goals attempted (364), 18th in 3-point field goal percentage (.407).

• Was the only rookie in the NBA to appear in every possible game for their team.

• As a starter in 2000-01 averaged 14.0 ppg., 4.4 rpg. and 1.9 apg. in 33.4 mpg.

• Among all NBA rookies in 2000-01, ranked first in 3-point percentage (.407), first in minutes played (2,390 minutes), third in scoring (11.9 ppg.), third in minutes played a game (29.1 mpg.), sixth in assists (1.7 apg.), tied for seventh in rebounding (4.0 rpg.), seventh in field goal percentage (.436), 11th in free throw percentage (.711), and 12th in steals (.62 spg.).

• In his rookie season, ranked as Orlando’s fourth leading scorer (11.9 Ppg.), fifth leading rebounder (4.0 rpg.),

COLLEGIATE NOTES

• As a sophomore helped lead Florida to a 29-8 record, tying a Florida record for most wins in a season, a share of the SEC title, and to the NCAA Championship game for the first time in school history.

• Named 2000 Most Outstanding Player of NCAA Tournament East Region and NCAA All-Tournament East Region.

• Unanimous selection for the 2000 All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) first team, 1999 All-SEC third team, and named to 1999 SEC All-Freshman Team.

• Named 1999 All-Freshman first team by Sports Illustrated and Basketball News.

• Named 2000 (first team) and 1999 (second team) National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District VI and 2000 and 1999 United States Basketball Writers Association All-District IV first team.

• His last second 10’ shot versus Butler earned Florida a NCAA Tournament first round 69-68 overtime win and earned Compaq College Basketball Play of the Year (Most Significant).

• Tied in 1999-2000 Florida single season record for games played (37) and games started (37).

• One of only two players in school history to lead the team in scoring as both a freshman and sophomore seasons.

• In only two seasons of play, ranks as Florida’s all-time NCAA Tournament leader in eight different categories, including scoring (112 points)and rebounding (68 rebounds).

• Born February 19, 1980, in Mitchell, South Dakota.

• He and his wife, Jen, have two sons, Mason and Mavrick.

• Son of Tom and Sheryl Miller.

• Father is an assistant principle and former basketball standout at Dakota Wesleyan, while his mother is a teacher.

• Older brother, Ryan, is on the University of Pepperdine men’s basketball coaching staff, and was a Division II All-American at Northern State (S.D.) and a 10th round draft pick in the 1998 CBA Draft by Sioux Falls.

• Has another brother, Jared, who attended Northern State and a sister, Chelsey, who played basketball for Mitchell H.S

• Named Player of the Year in South Dakota as both a junior and senior.

• His Mike Miller Foundation encourages kids to enjoy a healthy lifestyle, and provides aid to disadvantaged or disabled children in the states Tennessee, his home state of South Dakota and Florida, where he attended university.
