USA BASKETBALL NOTES

• Member of the 2007 USA Men’s Senior National Team and USA FIBA Americas Championship Team that finished 10-0, won gold and qualified the United States men for the 2008 Olympics. The USA Team was a team comprised of members of USA Basketball Senior National Team program.

 

• Started in 9 games and played in all 10 of the USA’s FIBA Americas Championship games. Averaged 10.0 ppg. (6th best on team), a team high 5.3 rpg., a team high 1.8 bpg., 16.5 minutes a game, while shooting a teambest 81.4 percent (35-43 FGs) from the field.
 
In the gold medal game against Argentina he recorded 20 points on perfect 7-for-7 shooting from the field and 6-for-8 shooting from the foul line, also added five rebounds and four blocked shots in 18 minutes of action.  Recvorded 19 points on 9-for-10 shooting from the field in 18 minutes versus Mexico.

 
• Played for the USA White Team in the 2007 State Farm USA Basketball Challenge and recorded 21 points on 9-for-9 shooting from the field and 3-for-3 shooting from the foul line, also added nine rebounds and two blocked shots in just 24 minutes of action.
 
• Helped lead USA to an 8-1 record and bronze medal at the 2006 FIBA World Championship in Japan.
 
• Finished as the USA's fifth leading scorer at the World Championship, averaged 7.3 points, a team second best 4.7 rebounds, a team leading 1.3 blocked shots a game, while shooting 54.1 percent from the field.
 
• Played in nine games and started five in the 2006 World Championship.
 
• His 12 blocked shots rank sixth most by a USA player in World Championship play.
 
• Finished the 2006 FIBA World Championship ranked sixth in blocked shots.
 
• Named on August 17 a member of the 2006 USA World Championship Team.
 
• Helped lead the USA Senior National Team to a 5-0 record during its pre-World Championship tour averaging 5.4 ppg. and a team high 5.8 rpg.
 
• Named on March 5, 2006, to the the 2006-2008 USA Basketball Men's Senior National Team program.
 
• Originally named to 2004 USA Men's Junior National Select Team that would compete in the 2004 Nike Hoop Summit, however, he did npot compete after withdrawing for personal reasons.
 
NBA HONORS
 
• Named July 2007 recipient of the NBA Community Assist Award.
 
• Named All-NBA third team in 2007.

• Was a unanimous selection to the 2004-05 NBA All-Rookie first team.
 
• Finished third in the voting for 2004-05 NBA Rookie of the Year.
 
• Selected by NBA coaches a reserve member of the 2007 NBA Eastern Conference All-Star Team. Posted a double-double of 20 points (10-14 FGs), a game best 12 rebounds, one assist and one blocked shot in 21 minutes of action as the East fell to the West 153-132.

• Also demonstrated his rim-rattling flare in the 2007 Sprite Slam Dunk during the 2007 NBA All-Star weekend. The NBA denied his request this week to raise the rim to 12 feet for the slam dunk event at All-Star Weekend. So while

dunking on a regulation 10-foot rim, he placed a sticker with his off-hand atop the backboard -- 12-feet, 6-inches off the ground.
 
• Named Eastern Conference Player of the Month for April 2006. Averaged 18.1 ppg. and 14.0 rpg., while shooting 55.9 percent and recording an NBA-best seven double-doubles. Helped lead the Magic to a 7-2 record, their best month of the season and in a 102-97 win over the Sixers on April 15, he recorded a season-high 28 points and a career-high and NBA season-high 26 rebounds.
 
• Named Eastern Conference Player of the Month for games played from the start of the season (Oct. 31) through November 2006. Averaged 17.1 points on .576 shooting and a league-high 13.6 rebounds while leading the Magic to an Eastern Conference best 12-4 record.
 
• Named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played Nov. 20- 26, 2006. Averaged 18.5 ppg. on 53.1 percent shooting and 14.3 rpg. in leading Orlando to a 3-1 week.

• Played on the Sophomore Team in the 2006 Rookie Challenge Game.
 
NBA MILESTONES
 
• Became in 2005-06 one of only eight players in the NBA and the first rookie (along with Emeka Okafor) to average a double-double since Shaquille O'Neal and Alonzo Mourning accomplished the feat in 1992-93.

• Became the youngest player in NBA history with 20-plus boards in a game after doing so versus Toronto (12/1/05). Also had 20 rebounds against Atlanta (2/10/06) becoming the first rookie since Tim Duncan in 1997-98 with multiple 20-plus rebound games in a rookie season.

• Became first NBA rookie since 1992-93 (Shaquille O’Neal, 12 games) to record 10-plus rebounds in first nine regular season games of his career.
 
• Became the first player in NBA history directly out of high school to start in all 82 games during his rookie season.

• Completed in 2006-07 his third NBA season, all with Orlando.

• Helped lead Orlando in 2006-07 to a 40-42 regular season and the 2007 Playoffs.

• Finished 2006-07 NBA regular season averaging a career high of 17.6 ppg., added 12.3 rpg., career bests of 1.9 bpg., 1.9 apg., while shooting a career high 60.3 percent from the field.
 
• Finished 2006-07 ranked first overall in the NBA in rebounds (1008); second in field goal percentage (.603); second in double-doubles (60); second in defensive rebounds (725); third in rebounds per game (12.3); third in offensive rebounds (283); fourth in free throws attempted (666); eight in minutes played (3023); ninth on blocked shots (156); 10th in efficiency points (1895); 12th in blocks per game (1.9); 15th in efficiency ranking (23.11); 17th in made free throws (390); 23rd in points scored (1443); 24th in made field goals (526); 29th in minutes per game (36.9); 33rd in points per game (17.6).

• Recorded a career high 35 points (14-15 FGs, 7-10 FTs ) and added 11 rebounds, five assists and three steals in the Magic’s 104-87 win over the 76ers versus Philadelphia (4/14/07).
 
• Posted a season high 25 rebounds at Golden State (1/10/07) and six blocked shots a Boston (3/28/07).

• Helped lead Orlando in 2005-06 to a 36-46 regular season record and to an 8-2 finish over the Magic's last 10 games.
 
• Finished 2005-06 NBA regular season, his second season, averaging then career highs of 15.8 ppg. and 12.5 rpg., and averaged 1.5 apg., 0.79 spg. and 1.40 bpg., while shooting 53.1 percent from the field.

• Finished 2005-06 ranked second overall in the NBA in rebounding, second in offensive rebounds, second in double-
doubles (60), sixth in field goal percentage, 10th in free throws attempted, 18th in free throws made, 18th in blocked shots and 19th in efficiency ranking (21.3).
 
• Averaged over Orlando's last 10 games 17.7 ppg., 13.6 rpg., shooting 56.8 percent from the field.

• Played and started in all 82 games for Orlando in 2004-05, averaging 12.0 ppg., a team-high 10.0 rpg. and a team-best 1.66 bpg.
 
• Selected by Orlando in the first round (first overall) of the 2004 NBA Draft.
 

HIGH SCHOOL NOTES
 
• Finished career at Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy (Ga.) with 2,146 points, 1,728 rebounds and 811 blocked shots in 129 games for career averages of 16.6 ppg., 13.4 rpg., and 6.29 bpg.
 
• Winner of the 2004 Naismith Award, signifying the nation's top high school player.

• Captured the Morgan Wootten High School Player of the Year Award, the Gatorade National Player of the Year Award and the McDonald's National High School Player of the Year honor.

• Attended 2003 Reebok ABCD Camp, named Co-MVP of Big Time, when his AAU Atlanta Celtics took home tournament's tittle, named MVP at the Dunk at the Beach tournament, where his team finished first.
