USA Basketball Notes
- A member of the 2007 USA Basketball Men's Youth Development Festival White Team, which finished with a 3-2 record and in possession of the bronze medal.
- Started in four of five games played and averaged 29.8 ppg., 9.8 rpg., 3.0 apg., 1.8 spg. and 1.0 bpg.
- Among all-time Festival records, ranks tied for first in field goals made (59), second for field goals attempted (104) and third for scoring average. In the single-game category, ranks first for field goals made (18 vs. Red) and second for points scored (43 vs. Red).
- Among 2007 Festival participants, ranked second in scoring average, sixth in rebounding average, seventh in free throw percentage (.676), tied for eighth in blocks averaged, 10th in 3-point field goals made (6), tied for 10th in steals averaged, 11th in 3-point percentage (.316) and 12th in assists averaged.
- One of two players from the class of 2008 who accepted an invitation to attend the 2007 USA Basketball U19 World Championship Team Trials. Drew Gordon was the other.
Honors
- Selected as a 2008 McDonald's All-American, named MVP of the game after recording a game-high 21 points, 10 rebounds and four assists for the East Team, which topped the West 107-102 on March 26 in Milwaukee, Wis.
- Invited to play in the 2008 Jordan Brand Classic on April 19 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
- Became the first player to be honored as the Associated Press Pennsylvania Player of the Year three consecutive years (2006, 2007 and 2008).
- In 2008, honored as a Parade Magazine All-America first team selection and named to the All-Delco, all-state and all-region first teams.
- Named Philadelphia Inquirer All-Southeastern Pennsylvania 2008 Boys Basketball first team and 2007 second team.
- Earned 2007 Parade Magazine All-America fourth team
honors and tabbed All-Delco first team, all-state first team and Slam All-America third team.
- Chosen as Rise Magazine’s No. 1 player in the country in 2006-07.
- Named the 2006 All-Delco first team, state player of the year and Christian league MVP.
- In 2005 selected to the All-Delco first team and named MVP of the Christian league.
High School Notes
- Attends American Christian, a private school in Aston, Pa. American Christian is not a member of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association and is not
eligible for state titles.
- Has been starting at American Christian since seventh grade and has compiled more than 3,300 career points.
- As a senior in 2007-08, averaged 32.1 ppg., 8.8 rpg., 5.5 apg. and 4.3 spg. to help his team to a 21-6 record; twice scored 50 points.
- As a junior in 2006-07, averaged 25.0 ppg., 10.0 rpg. and 8.0 apg, as his team finished 27-8, good for a third place ranking in the state.
- Helped American Christian finish second in state ranking as a sophomore in 2005-06.
- Averaged 25.5 ppg., 5.0 rpg., 6.0 apg., 3.0 spg. and 2.0 blocks as a freshman in the 2004-05 season.
- Played varsity in seventh grade, but his stats did not count until he reached ninth grade.
- In two years played with the AAU’s Reebok Raiders, Evans won the 14U championship at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex and was named MVP of the tournament.
