USA BASKETBALL NOTES:

• Member of the 2007 USA Men’s Senior National Team and USA FIBA Americas Championship Team that finished 10-0, won gold and qualified the United States men for the 2008 Olympics. The USA Team was a team comprised of members of USA Basketball Senior National Team program.


• Started in one of the USA’s 10 FIBA Americas Championship games. Averaged 5.6 ppg., 1.8 rpg., 2.6 apg. (fifth best on team), 16.0 minutes a game, while shooting 35.5 percent (11-31 3pt FGs) from 3-point, and a perfect 11-of-11 from the foul line.


• Played for the USA White Team in the 2007 State Farm USA Basketball Challenge and recorded three points, four rebounds, seven assists and four steals in 19 minutes of action.

• Participated in the July 18-24, 2006, Senior National Team training camp in Las Vegas, but because of personal reasons was not available to play in the World Championship.
 

 

• Named on March 5, 2006, to the the 2006-2008 USA Basketball Men's Senior National Team program.

Selected as a finalist for 1996 USA 22 & Under World Championship Qualifying Team.

•
As a finalist for 1996 USA 22 & Under World Championship Qualifying Team partipcated in an exhibition game against the 1996 USA Senior National Team that wpould later int he summer capture gold in the Olympics. Accounted for seven points, one rebound, two assists and two steals in 10 minutes of action, as the USA Senior Team overcame the collegians' 17-point lead to earn a down to the wire 96-90 win.

• Named to the 1995 U.S. Olympic Festival North Team that finished 3-1 and won the gold medal. Started in all four games and averaged 10.5 ppg., 3.5 rpg., 3.3 apg.

• Ranked among Festival statistical leaders, listing tied for eighth in scoring and tied for fourth in assists.

• Named to the 1995 US Olympic Festival five-member All-Tournament Team.
 


NBA HONORS:

• Named 2004 NBA Finals MVP.

• Named to 2007 All-NBA third team.
 
• Named to 2006 All-NBA second team, was the leading vote getter on the second team (378).

• Named to 2006 NBA All-Defensive second team and tied Tim Duncan for highest voting point total with 23.


• Named to 2005 NBA All-Defensive second team.


• Named to his first NBA All-Star Game in 2006 and as a member of the 2006 Eastern Conference All-Star Team
recorded 15 points on 6-10 shooting and added four rebounds, a team best seven assists in just under 16 minutes of action.


• Participated in the 2006 Foot Locker Three-Point Shootout.


• Named Eastern Conference Player of the Month for February 2007. Averaged 17.9 ppg. and 7.5 apg. while leading the Pistons to a 10-1 record for the month. He averaged 21.3 ppg. on the road and dished out eight-plus assists five times.


• Named Eastern Conference Player of the Month for January 2006.


• Named NBA Player of the Week for March 14, 2005.


• Recorded nine points, seven assists and five rebounds in the Schick Rookie Game during the 1998 NBA All-Star Weekend in New York.


NBA MILESTONES:


• Ranks 30th all-time in 3-point field goals made (1133).

• In 2005 became the sixth player in Detroit franchise history to score more than 1,000 post-season points.

• Finished 2005-06 NBA regular season averaging career highs of 18.5 ppg. and 8.6 apg., also adding 3.1 rpg., while shooting 41.8 percent from the field, 43.3 percent from 3-point and 89.4 percent from the foul line.

• Finished 2005-06 ranked first overall in the NBA in assists per turnover (4.11), fourth in assists, fifth in 3-point field goals made, sixth in free throw percentage, eighth in 3-point shooting percentage, 10th in 3-point field goals attempted, 13th in free throws made, 17th in free throws attempted and shot a career high 43.3 percent from 3-point.

• Shot in 2004-05 a career high 44.2 percent from the field, 42.6 percent from 3-point and 89.8 percent from the foul line, while adding 16.5 ppg. and a then career-best 5.8 assists.

• Led the Detroit Pistons to the 2004 NBA championship and earned NBA Finals MVP honors after averaging 21.0 ppg., 5.2 apg., 3.2 rpg. and 1.20 spg., while averaging 38.4 mpg. in five games versus the Los Angeles Lakers.

• Played and started in 74 games for Detroit in 2002-03, averaged 16.2 ppg., 3.7 rpg. and 3.9 apg.

• Played in 82 games in 2001-02 for Minnesota, started 54 times, averaged 12.5 ppg., 2.5 rpg. and 2.8 apg.

• Played in 77 games in 2000-01 for Minnesota, started 33, and averaged 9.3 ppg., 2.1 rpg. and 3.4 apg.

• Was a member of Denver and Orlando teams in 1999-2000, In 13 games with Denver, started five times and averaged 8.6 ppg., 2.6 rpg. and 3.0 apg.

• In 1998-99, started in 41 of 45 games played in for Denver, averaged 13.9 ppg., 2.1 rpg., 3.8 apg. and 1.29 steals.

• Led all NBA rookies in 1997-98 in 3-pointers made (107) and attempted (325), ranked third in 3-point percentage (.327), fourth in steals (1.34 spg.), fifth in assists (3.9 apg) and eighth in scoring (11.2 ppg.).

• Posted 15 points and four assists for the Celtics, in his NBA debut against the Chicago Bulls (Oct. 31, 1997).

• Traded by the Celtics with Dee Brown, John Thomas and Roy Rogers to Toronto Raptors for Kenny Anderson, Zan Tabak and Popeye Jones (Feb. 18, 1998).

• Signed as a free agent by the Detroit Pistons on July 17, 2002.

• Signed as free agent by Minnesota Timberwolves on Aug. 8, 2000.

• Traded by Nuggets with Ron Mercer, Johnny Taylor and draft considerations to Orlando Magic for Chris Gatling, Tariq Abdul-Wahad and a future first-round.

• Traded by Raptors with draft rights to Tyson Wheeler to Denver Nuggets in three-way deal in which Raptors received 1999 first-round draft choice from Nuggets and draft rights to Zeljko Rebraca, Michael Williams and 1999 or 2000 first-round draft choice from Minnesota Timberwolves. Timberwolves received Dean Garrett and Bobby Jackson from Nuggets (Jan. 21, 1999) draft pick and cash considerations (Feb. 1, 2000).

• Selected after sophomore year by Boston Celtics in first round (third pick overall) of 1997 NBA Draft.

COLLEGIATE NOTES:

• Played two seasons at the University of Colorado before making himself available in the NBA Draft.

• Named in 1997 by Basketball News All-America First Team, United states Basketball Writers Association All-America Second Team and 1997 All-Big 12 Conference First Team.

• Averaged in 1996-97 as a sophomore 19.1 ppg., 4.9 rpg. and 4.8 apg., while helping lead Colorado to a 22-10 record, Colorado's second 20-win season ever and to the NCAA Tournament second round, marking Colorado's first NCAA Tournament appearance since the 1968-69 season.

• Surpassed the career 500-point barrier in his 28th collegiate game, tying Shaun Vandiver as the fastest CU player to reach the 500-point plateau.

• Scored his 1000th point in NCAA Tournament win over Indiana and became just the 19th player in Colorado history to record 1,000 or more points.

• On Dec. 2, 1995, he recorded Colorado's first triple-double, compiling 24 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists in a win over George Mason.
