USA BASKETBALL NOTES

- Named on July 25, 2006, one of 15 finalists for the 2006 USA World Championship Team.

- Participated in the 2006 Senior National Team training camp in Las Vegas, but withdrew because of an injury.

- Named on March 5, 2006, to the 2006-2008 USA Basketball Men's Senior National Team.

- As a member of the 2004 U.S. Olympic basketball team that finished 5-3 and won the bronze medal, played in all eight of the USA's Olympic games, averaged 9.9 ppg., 5.9 rpg., 1.1 spg. and shot 53.1 percent from the field.

- Recorded 22 points and six rebounds in 24 minutes of action in the USA's 104-96 victory over Lithuania in the bronze medal game (8/28/2004) and recorded 16 points (8-10 FGs) and eight rebounds in 89-79 win over Australia (8/19/2004).

- As a member of the 2004 USA Basketball Men's Senior National Team that compiled a 5-1 record in its pre-Olympic training, played in all six games and started once, averaged 8.0 ppg., 4.5 rpg.1.16 spg.,  while shooting 64.5 percent (20-31 FGs) from the field and a perfect   8-of-8 from the foul line.

- Recorded 12 points and nine rebounds in USA's 96-71 exhibition game victory over Puerto Rico (7/31/2004).

- Named to the 2004 USA Basketball Senior National Team on May 14, 2004.

- Was a member of the 2002 USA World Championship Team that    finished 6-3 and in sixth place.

- An injury forced him to miss the USA's last three games at the 2002 World Championship, still, he averaged 9.8 ppg. and 4.7 rpg.

- Recorded 16 points (7-12 FGs) and seven rebounds in 110-62 win against New Zealand and posted 15 points in 84-65 win over China

- Was part of the 2001 USA Goodwill Games Team that featured young NBA standouts and rolled to a 5-0 mark to collect gold. Averaged team bests of 13.4 ppg. and 7.6 rpg., while adding 1.8 steals, 1.4 assists, and shooting a sizzling 63.0 percent from the field and 75.0 percent from the foul line.

- Was credited with 19 points and nine rebounds in the USA's 97-67 win versus Argentina and had 13 points and seven rebounds in 91-63 win against Argentina in the gold medal game.


NBA HONORS

- Named All-NBA third team in 2005 and 2006.

- Named NBA All-Rookie second team in 2000.

- Has played in four NBA All-Star Games (2003, 2005, 2006 and 2007).

- Selected by NBA coaches a reserve member of the 2007 NBA Western Conference All-Star Team. Finished with 18 points (9-15 FGs), eight rebounds, four assists and two steals in 22 minutes of action as the West routed the East 153-132.

- As a member of the 2006 Western Conference All-Star Team, he recorded 14 points and eight rebounds in 17 minutes of action.

- Named to 2005 NBA Western Conference All-Star Team and recorded 10 points, three rebounds and four assists.

- Teamed with WNBA Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi and Suns legend Dan Majerle to win the 2005 RadioShack Shooting Stars competition on All-Star Saturday.

- Made his first NBA All-Star Game appearance in 2003 and had eight points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals in 23 minutes. Guarded Michael Jordan at end of regulation and late in both overtime sessions in MJ's final All-Star appearance.

- Participated in the 2001 Rookie Challenge Game at the NBA All-Star Weekend in Washington, D.C., and helped the Sophomores to the 121-113 victory, recording 18 points (9-12 FGs), three rebounds and two assists and steals.

- Named 2000 NBA All-Rookie Second Team.

- Named NBA Western Conference Player of the Month for February 2006 after guiding the Suns to a 9-1 record and averaged 24.2 ppg. and 13.9 rpg.


NBA MILESTONES

- Recorded in 2004-05 3,000-plus minutes for the fourth consecutive season to become only the first player in franchise history to do so

- Became just the second NBA player ever (David Robinson, 1991-92) to rank in the top five in rebounding and steals since the league started to track steals in 1973-74.

- Helped lead Phoenix in 2005-06 to a Western Conference Pacific Division title, a 54-28 regular season record and the 2006 NBA Playoffs.

- Played and started in 81 of Phoenix' 82 games in 2005-06 and finished the NBA regular season averaging career highs of 21.8 ppg. and 11.8 rpg., added 1.8 apg., 1.98 spg., 1.69 bpg., while shooting 52.5 percent from the field, 33.1 percent from 3-point and 80.9 percent from the foul line.

- Finished 2005-06 ranked 15th overall in the NBA in scoring, third in rebounds per game, third in efficiency ranking (28.85), fifth in steals, sixth in offensive rebounds (3.1), seventh in minutes played per game, eighth in field goals made, 10th in field goal percentage, 17th in blocked shots and 18th in field goals attempted.

- Was the only NBA player in 2004-05 ranked in top 25 in points (19.4 ppg., 23rd), rebounding (career-high 11.3 rpg., 3rd), steals (2.01 spg., 4th), blocks (career-high 1.47 bpg., 23rd), and minutes (38.8 mpg., 9th).

- In 2003-04 he was one of only two NBA players (the other was MVP Kevin Garnett) to rank in the top 30 in points (19.0 ppg., 19th), rebounds (9.3 rpg., 14th), steals (2.10 spg., second), blocks (1.32 bpg., 27th) and minutes
(40.6 mpg./, 2nd).

- Led the NBA in 2003-04 in steals (167) and ranked sixth in minutes played (3,217), 13th in field goals attempted (1,341), 15th in field goals made (590), 15th in defensive rebounds a game (6.6), 18th in offensive rebounds per game (2.7) and 27th in blocks (1.32).

- Was the only player in 2002-03 ranked in top 20 in points (21.2 ppg., 17th) and top 10 in rebounds (9.5 rpg., eighth) and steals (2.28 spg., third).

- Was one of only two NBA players (Kevin Garnett) in 2001-02 to be ranked in top 40 of seven of the league's nine major statistical areas.  Placed 27th in scoring (19.1 ppg.), tied for eighth in rebounding (9.9 rpg.), 34th in field goal percentage (.469), tied for 24th in free throw percentage (.845), 12th in steals (1.84 spg.), tied for 34th in blocks (1.06 bpg.) and tied for 18th in minutes (38.4 mpg.).

- Jumped his numbers in 2000-01 to 17.3 ppg., 10.7 rpg., 1.4 bpg. and 1.7 spg., and ranked sixth in total rebounds (848), sixth in double-doubles (47), eighth in rebounds averaged, and 12th in steals.

- Collected 2000 NBA All-Rookie Second Team honors after averaging 10.2 points and 6.5 rebounds a game.

- Drafted in the first round, No. 9 overall, of the 1999 NBA Draft by Phoenix.

COLLEGIATE NOTES

- Played his first two seasons of college ball at Vincennes University in Indiana.

- A two-time winner of the NJCAA Region 12 MVP Award, he was also selected as a sophomore the 1998 NJCAA David Rowlands Male Student Athlete of the Year and NJCAA All-American first team after averaging 23.5 ppg., 13.1 rpg., 2.9 bpg. and 2.0 spg.

- Led Vincennes to a fifth place finish in the 1998 NJCAA Tournament and was named MVP of the National Junior College All-Star Game after collecting 21 points, 16 rebounds and nine assists.

- As a freshman, averaged 23.3 ppg. and 12.8 rpg. and was named 1997 NJCAA All-American second team, the only freshman named to any of the NJCAA's three All-America teams.

- Left Vincennes ranked as the all-time leading scorer and rebounder with 1,685 points and 933 rebounds.

- Played one season at UNLV and in his junior year led the Rebels in scoring (18.7 ppg.), rebounding (9.3 rpg.) and blocked 54 shots and recorded 73 steals in 29 games.

- Earned 1999 All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) first team, All-WAC Newcomer and All-WAC Defensive Mountain Division honors.

- Dubbed 'The Matrix' by TNT color analyst and former NBA guard Kenny Smith.

- Has three younger sisters including twin sisters Shawnett and Quinnisha ,and Traimane.

- After being drafted in 1999 he purchased a home for his mother, Elaine, in Las Vegas.

- Was selected one of the -Good Guys" in sports by The Sporting News in 2003.

- Was one of several NBA players and Hollywood celebrities to visit U.S. and coalition troops in Kuwait as part of Project Salute 2003 and was given the NBA Community Assists Award for the month of June.

- Attended high school in Clarksville, Tennessee, after moving from South Chicago in junior high.

- His high school jersey at Clarksville (Class of '96) was retired during a special halftime ceremony at a football game on Sept. 22, 2000.

- First started wearing number 31 when he entered junior college, because it was the number worn by Indiana's Reggie Miller.
