Honors
- Named MVP of two postseason all-star games in April following the 2011-12 season: scored 24 points and had 12 rebounds to lead the U.S. All-Stars over the Capital All-Stars at the Capital Classic in Alexandria, Va.; and scored 22 points with 12 boards and seven blocks to lead the East team to victory in a Jordan Brand Classic regional game in Charlotte, N.C.
- Chosen as Tar Roanoke Conference Tournament MVP in 2011 for his performance in leading North Edgecombe to the conference championship.
High School Notes
- Played the 2011-12 season at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va. after previously playing at North Edgecombe High School in Tarboro, N.C.
- Averaged 25.2 ppg., 13.6 rpg. and 3.0 bpg. for Hargrave, whose only loss came in the National Prep Championship to Brewster Academy (Wolfeboro, N.H.).
- Dunked 18 times in a single game as he finished with 51 points, 17 rebounds and six blocks in a 122-119 overtime victory by Hargrave over Fishburne Military School.
- At North Edgecombe in 2010-11, averaged 16.2 ppg., 12.0 rpg. and 6.7 bpg. as North Edgecombe went 21-3 and won the Tar Roanoke Conference Championship.
- Once shattered a backboard in practice during his final season at North Edgecombe.
