  • Gold Medals: 2012 Olympic Games.
    • Member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team that finished 8-0 and won the gold medal. Averaged 3.7 ppg., 2.7 rpg. and shot 64.7 percent from the field.
    • Member of the 2012 USA National Team that finished pre-Olympic tour with a 5-0 record. Averaged 6.7 ppg., 1.7 rpg., 1.7 bpg, and shot 66.7 percent from the field.
    • Recorded nine points and one rebound in 9:58 of action in exhibition victory over the Dominican Republic.
    • Named a member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Men’s Basketball Team on July 12, 2012. Replaced Blake Griffin who withdrew because of an injury.
    • Named a finalist for the 2012 USA Men’s Olympic Team on May 3, 2012.
    • Selected to play for the USA Junior Select Team at the 2011 Nike Hoop. Recorded 16 points, 10 rebounds and two block shots to help the USA to a 92-80 win over the World Select Team.

    COLLEGE NOTES

    • Played and started in 2011-12 in all 40 University of Kentucky games and as a freshman led the Wildcats to a 38-2 record, the Southeastern Conference (SEC) regular season title and the NCAA championship.
    • As a freshman in 2011-12 averaged team highs of 32.0 minutes a game, 14.2 ppg., 10.4 rpg. and 4.7 bpg., while adding 1.3 apg. and 1.4 spg. Shot 62.3 percent from the floor and 70.9 percent from the foul line.
    • Named the 2012 NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player after leading Kentucky to the NCAA title and averaging 13.7 ppg., 12.3 rpg. and 4.8 blpg. in team’s six NCAA Tournament games.
    • Recorded 186 blocks for the season which are the most in the history of the Southeastern Conference and an all-time NCAA mark for freshmen.
    • Set UK freshman records for blocks (186) and rebounds (399) by a Kentucky first-year player. Also tied the UK freshman record for most double-doubles (20).
    • Selected by The Sporting News as the National Player of the Year.
    • Consensus National Player of the Year winning the Adolph Rupp Trophy, U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA), Basketball Times, Associated Press, Wooden and Naismith.
    • In winning the 2012 Associated Press Player of the Year award and the Naismith Trophy he became just the second freshman (Kevin Durant was the other) to capture the awards.
    • Named USBWA National Freshman Player of the Year.
    • Named Associated Press All-America first team and to Wooden All-America 10-member team.
    • Selected the 2011-12 SEC Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and Defensive Player of the Year.
