USA BASKETBALL NOTES

- A veteran of six USA Basketball teams.

- Helped lead USA to an 8-1 record and bronze medal at the 2006 FIBA World Championship in Japan.

- Finished as the USA's fourth leading scorer at the World Championship, averaged 8.9 points while playing 17.4 minutes a game. Also shot 53.7 percent from the field, while adding 3.3 rebounds and a team second best 1.2 blocked shots a game.

- His 11 blocked shots rank seventh most by a USA player in World Championship play.

- Finished the 2006 FIBA World Championship ranked 11th in blocked shots.

- Named on August 17 a member of the 2006 USA World Championship Team.

- Helped lead the USA Senior National Team to a 5-0 record during its pre-World Championship tour averaging 8.8 ppg. and 3.2 rpg.

- Named on March 5, 2006, to the 2006-2008 USA Basketball Men's Senior National Team.

- Helped lead the USA in 2003 to a 10-0 record, the gold medal and a qualifying berth for the 2004 Olympics at the Aug. 20-31 FIBA Americas Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Puerto Rico. Played in   all 10 games and started once, averaged 7.2 ppg. (8th on team), 3.9 rpg. (4th on team), while shooting 60.5 percent (26-43 FGs) from the field and 60.6 percent (20-33 FTs) from the foul line.

- Tied for team highs of 17 points and six rebounds in the team's tournament opening win over Brazil, also recorded 11 and 10 point outings in USA wins over Canada and Venezuela.

- Recorded 10 points and six rebounds in 11 minutes of action in the USA's 101-74 exhibition game victory over Puerto Rico on Aug. 17 in New York, N.Y.

- Named on May 28, 2003, to the 2003 USA Senior National Team as one of three role players.

- Selected to the 2002 USA World Championship Team that finished 6-3 and in sixth place in Indianapolis, Indiana. Played in eight of the USA's nine games and started five times, averaged 6.9 ppg., 4.1 rpg. and 1.4 apg., while shooting a team leading 58.1 percent (25-43 FGs).

- Was one of three collegians selected for the 1999 USA Tournament of the Americas Olympic Qualifying Team that also featured nine NBA standouts. That USA Basketball team rolled to a spotless 10-0 record, won gold and qualified the United States for the 2000 Olympic Games. Posted averages of 2.0 ppg. and 1.7 rpg., in 7.8 minutes of action per game.

- Was a member of the 1998 gold medal winning USA Goodwill Games Team that was comprised of   college players, averaged a team second best 17.0 points a game, while adding team bests of 7.6 rebounds, 1.2 blocked shots and 65.0 percent shooting from the field. In the gold medal final against Australia, he finished with 15 points and nine rebounds to help the U.S. to its 93-85 overtime upset victory.

- For his outstanding performance at the 1998 Goodwill Games, he was tagged by USA Basketball as its 1998 Male Athlete of the Year.

- Made his USA Basketball debut in 1997 with the USA Basketball Hoop Summit Team. The USA,  behind Brand's 15 points and seven boards, defeated an International Select Team 97-90.

NBA HONORS

- Suffered a ruptured Achilles' tendon on August 3 and had surgery to repair the injury on August 7.

- Named a divisional recipient of the 2006-07 NBA Sportsmanship Award that honors a player who exemplifies the ideals of sportsmanship on the court -- ethical behavior, fair play and integrity. 

- Named 2005-06 All-NBA second team.

- Named the recipient of the 2005-06 NBA Sportsmanship Award that honors a player who exemplifies the ideals of sportsmanship on the court -- ethical behavior, fair play and integrity. 

- Named a member of the 2006 Western Conference All-Star Team and recorded 12 points and seven rebounds in just under 17 minutes of action.

- Named Pacific Division winner of the 2003-04 NBA Sportsmanship Award and to the 2003-04 NBA All-Interview first team.

- Named to his first NBA All-Star Game in 2002 and recorded six points and 10 rebounds in just 19 minutes of action.

- Voted the NBA's 2000 Co-Rookie of the Year (along with Steve Francis) and was named NBA All-Rookie first team.

- Named MVP of the 2000 Rookie Challenge Game after posting 16 points and 21 rebounds.

- Named 2002 Magic Johnson Award winner.

- Named the Schick Rookie of the Month for January and February 2000.

- Finished 2005-06 NBA regular season averaging a career high 24.7 ppg., 10.0 rpg., 2.6 apg., 1.03 spg. and 2.54 bpg., while shooting 52.8 percent from the field and 77.5 percent from the foul line.

- Finished 2005-06 ranked 11th overall in the NBA in scoring, fourth in field goals made, fourth in efficiency ranking (28.52), fifth in blocked shots, fifth in double-doubles (45), sixth in rebounding, seventh in field goal percentage, eighth in offensive rebounds, 12th in minutes per game, 13th in field goals attempted, 14th in free throws made and 15th in free throws attempted.

- In 2004-05, played in and started 81 games, averaged 20.0 ppg., 9.5 rpg., 2.6 apg., 2.09 blocked shots, while shooting 50.3 percent from the field.

- In 2003-04, played in 69 games and started 68, averaged 20.0 ppg., 10.4 rpg., a career high 3.3 apg., and 2.23 blocked shots.

- In 2002-03, played in 62 games, averaged 18.5 ppg., 11.3 rpg., 2.5 apg., 1.15 spg., 2.55 bpg., while shooting 50.2 percent from the field, and averaging 39.6 minutes per game.

- Finished the 2002-03 regular season ranked first in the NBA in offensive rebounds per game (4.6 per game), fourth in blocked shots per game (2.55), fifth in    double-doubles (44), eighth in efficiency ranking (24.42), 11th in field goal percentage, 12th in minutes player per game and 14th in total rebounds (703).

- Missed 18 games with a stress fracture (2/26/03 through 3/30/03), then returned for the Clippers' final nine games of the season.

- In 2001-02, his first season with the Clippers, he averaged 18.2 ppg. and then career bests of 11.6 rebounds and 2.4 blocked shots per game, while shooting career highs of 52.7 percent from the field and 74.2 percent from the charity line.

- Finished the 2001-02 season ranked first in the league in offensive rebounds (396/5.0 per game), second in field goal percentage, fifth in rebounds per game, ninth in free throws attempted, 11th in free throws made, 11th in blocks per game and 31st for points per game. Also posted the NBA's third highest number of double-doubles (55).

- Traded (for Brian Skinner and the draft rights to Tyson Chandler) on June 27, 2001, following his second season, to the Los Angeles Clippers.

- His numbers in his second year (2000-01) were similar to his first, 20.1 ppg. (24th in the NBA) and 10.1 rpg. (9th in the NBA).

- As a rookie averaged 20.1 ppg. (19th in the NBA) and 10.0 rpg. (7th in the NBA).

- Led all rookies in scoring, rebounds, blocks (1.63 bpg.) and 37.0 minutes per game, also led the NBA in offensive rebounds with 348 (4.3).

- The first overall pick by the Chicago Bulls in the 1999 Draft.

- Became the first player from Duke to leave school early for the NBA, he also became the first Blue Devil ever to be picked with the top choice in the NBA Draft when Chicago took him at No. 1.

- Selected by the Chicago Bulls in the first round (first pick overall) of the 1999 NBA Draft.

COLLEGIATE NOTES

- In two seasons in Durham, he aided the Blue Devils to a 69-6 for a striking 92.0 winning percentage, two ACC regular season titles, one ACC   Tournament championship and an NCAA runner-up and Elite Eight finish.

- During his two seasons he shot 61.2 percent from the field, compiled 972 points (16.2 ppg.), 536 rebounds (8.9 rpg.) and 113 blocked shots (1.9 bpg.).

- His career field goal percentage mark of 62.1 is the highest ever for a Duke player with at least 300 made, and he ranks fifth with 113 career   blocked shots.

- As a sophomore he was selected the consensus National Player of the Year, while also collecting 1999 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Player of the Year and ACC Tournament MVP honors and unanimous All-America honors.

- Led the Blue Devils in 1998-99 to a 37-2 record, the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) regular season and ACC Tournament titles, and to an NCAA runner-up finish.

- Averaged as a sophomore in 1998-99 a Duke-best 17.7 ppg. and 9.8 rpg.

- Despite missing 15 games as a freshman due to a broken left foot, he was still named All-America Honorable Mention by The Associated Press after averaging 13.4 ppg. and a team-high 7.3 rpg.

PERSONAL NOTES

- Started the Elton Brand Foundation in the spring of 2000. His Foundation provides support to worthy causes in Chicago, Ill., Peekskill, N.Y. and Durham, N.C.

- As a high school senior, named McDonald's All-America after averaging 25.9 ppg., 16.2 rpg. and 6.0 bpg.
